The fundamentals come first.

Kids 8 to 14 are still building their swing. The goal is to make it hold up when the game gets fast.

Power starts from the ground. Once a young hitter learns to load and drive with the lower half, the swing keeps growing with them year after year.

Get the bat in the zone

Your player learns a short, direct path to the ball. We work on how the barrel enters the hitting zone, because that is where contact gets decided.

Keep it there

Staying in the zone longer turns mistimed swings into hard contact. It is the difference between a foul ball and a double in the gap.

JB went to high school in Galion, Ohio, then played at Ohio State. Houston called him up in August 2011. His best year came in 2013 with the Angels. He hit .293 in 129 games and finished fifth in the vote for Rookie of the Year.

He was never a power hitter. He hit 8 home runs in parts of seven big-league seasons. What kept him in the lineup was contact. He struck out about half as often as the average big leaguer, because he got the bat in the zone early and kept it there. Those are the same basics he teaches now.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How old does my player need to be?

The program is built for ages 8 to 15. If your player falls outside that range, book the call anyway and JB will give you an honest read on whether it makes sense.

What happens after the assessment?

You decide from there. The $99 covers the marked-up video breakdown and the 20-minute call, and it is separate from any program you join. You keep the breakdown whether or not you take a spot.

How do we send video?

Everything goes through the V1 Baseball app. Setup takes a couple of minutes, and a short guide walks you through filming a swing JB can read.

Who is looking at the video?

Every breakdown comes from JB himself. The assistant on this site handles questions about the app, pricing and scheduling, and it leaves the swing work to him.

What if they get hurt or the season starts?

You can pause for injury, illness or an in-season break. JB holds the spot for up to two months. Monthly families are not billed while paused, and prepaid months wait until they are back.

What happens when the spots fill?

The $99 assessment stays open, and program checkout closes when a tier fills.

These are the years the swing gets built.
